[Day 2 - Mid Afternoon] Back to Work

[Teffa]

After the commotion at the hangar, Teffa returned to work on doing maintenance on her ship. Her hard work really consisted of standing around with her arms crossed while Arbee practically did the bulk of what had to be done. She would at times get in the way and point a few things out. Maintenance hasn't quiet felt quite the same since she beached the ship by a lake after fiddling with the landing gear. Still, she hoped to still take part in some way? She was captain of the ship!

"Uhm, I'll be right here if you need me!" she said as she made her way back to a stack of empty pins where her thermos was sitting.

There’s a sound like a someone’s stood on the toe of a chainsaw and some loud cursing from outside the ship.

“I told you, I’m your friend”
Violent screeching
“Oh really. Then why did he have you in a cage?”
Still angry sounds
“Ah huh. Listen buddy, he would have made you into a delicious curry, really, I’m the hero here.”

The voice calls out
“Hoi the ship. Teffa, right?”

Sounds of loud curing wasn't a strange occurrence at the hangar, especially with some of the mishaps and accidents that happened around here. Not all mechanics were soft-spoken. However, it was enough to draw some curiosity from Teffa and she started to peer around for the source after a sip of her cup.

She inched toward the conversation and pointed at herself curiously. "Me? That's right! I'm Teffa!"

The source of the sounds appears to be a Weequay holding a squirming cat like creature.

“Hey Teffa, it’s Virillo.... you know, from work.”
Pause
“Hold on, one sec.”
His features twist and change into that Clawdite from the briefing with Olon the day before.
“Mind if I hide in your ship for a little? Got a thing here.”
The cat hisses.

Teffa blinked at the weequay, not quite recalling there being one at the meeting. It was a dark room and there were a lot of people she didn't quite get their names.

She gave a few nods at first, not sounding entirely sure about this person, "hey, Virillo...it's you..."

"Oh, you!" she called out when the Clawdite appeared in place of the Weequay. She blinked at the cat creature and there were a good share of critters that were running about just earlier. Was he gifted this one or did he take this one in the chaos?

"Sure, right this way," she motioned up the ramp of the YT-1300-eque freighter. There were plenty of places where they could get some privacy inside, if that's what he was seeking.

"Sure, right this way," she motioned up the ramp of the YT-1300-eque freight. There were plenty of places where they could get some privacy inside, if that's what he was seeking.

“You’re a life saver.”
Clawdite and cat head up the motioned ramp, the pet now seemingly determined to dig its claws as deep into its new owner as it could.

“This your ship eh?”
Once he’s out of sight of the commotion Virillo relaxes slightly.
“She’s really nice. I should have given you my secret rat business, instead I just get glared at all day by Miss premature greying.”
Leaning up against one of the ship walls
“Ah well, all make mistakes.”

Teffa found herself wincing when she saw the claws on the cat creature, perhaps now feeling much better that she didn't take one as a pet. There were things like care and responsibility that she wasn't quite ready for! There was also trouble managing it too.

"That's right!" she said before hitting the button for the ramp, closing the door and lighting the interior. The ship was old and slightly rusty but it was mostly clean-ish at least, if you were to discount all the loose cargo and containers about. "Welcome to the Trunk! It may not look like much of a prize but I did win it a while back."

"Does your friend of a name...yet?"

“Not one I’d repeat in public.”
Holding the creature up by the scruff
“Any ideas? Mauly? Savagy? Opressy? I’m not sure what suits him yet.”

Looking around now they were properly inside
“The ‘Trunk’ eh? I like it, short, memorable, some wordplay. I can get behind that. And you won her? So is that your speciality, gambling?”

"Mauly? Savage? Aren't you kind of type-casting the furball already?" she chuckled as she reached to pet the cat-creature but stopped herself short, wondering how domesticated and socialized these creatures were. Considering that she saw some scamper from their containment a while ago, she imagined that very little was done with them other than trap them.

"Mauly isn't too bad actually. The name kind of has the right high pitch to call him to attention," she nodded after some consideration.

"I figured there would be some wordplay," she said chuckling. "That's right, won her in a spaceport in the middle of nowhere. Well...I guess really won the responsibility too. I guess it's kind of my thing? It doesn't seem like much of a specialty when everyone can easily take up some cards or roll dice."

She made her way to a table in the cramped kitchen area of the ship, motioning him to join her if he wished. "Excuse the mess...but I have some refreshments if you're thirsty. Some water, beer...fizzy sweet stuff."

"Mauly? Savage? Virillo follows her to the kitchen, stepping over and around any debris as the loth-cat seems to quieten slightly, now just looking around suspiciously.
"Mauly....Mauly, yeah, I think we can work with that, can't we Mauly?"

"Anyone can tell jokes too, but I've fooled enough folks into thinking it's some kind of top level profession for an elite few. Sure someone can sit down at a table and bleed chips all night, but winning? That's an artform."
Virillo follows her to the kitchen, stepping over and around any debris as the loth-cat seems to quieten slightly, now just looking around suspiciously.

Teffa couldn't help but smile abashedly at Virillo mentioning gambling to be an artform. She chuckled and dusted her shoulders. "Aw, well...I guess it could be an art form. I've been pretty lucky as well and take a few things around into consideration. Not quite planning but planning on the go? Despite all that, I can lose sometimes. If you keep flipping coins, you're eventually going to get the other side no matter how lucky you may be."

"Whoa! Hey!" she exclaimed in surprise when Mauly just tried to maul him. A mishap like that and she might have some blood to clean off her ship.

"...But I guess he's taken to it, at least," she chuckled and made her way to the mini-fridge in the kitchen, "I'm just offering what I got, which isn't much. I don't really get to play hostess all that much. To be honest, my ship isn't quite a looker, not when you can have something that's purple and gold all over."

Teffa couldn't help but smile abashedly at Virillo mentioning gambling to be an artform. She chuckled and dusted her shoulders. "Aw, well...I guess it could be an art form. Rubbing Mauly's belly even as he protests
"He'll warm up to it, cats like being fed so that'll do the trick when I work out what they eat."

Raising an eyebrow
"She's not...you know, luxurious looking. But she's lived in....could use some reorganizing but whose home doesn't?"

"Well maybe after the big job you won't have to worry about flipping coins anymore? I dunno what gamblers do when they retire, invest in stocks? It's the same thing just slower."

"I guess I could..." she murmured at the idea of investing into stocks. If that was something she had been into, she might have done it a while ago before losing all of her winnings. "Hopefully, I'll get enough money that I'll have trouble spending it all, even with gambling! That's probably when I can comfortably retire."

She returned with a frosty red can and placed it on Virillo's side of the table. "Maybe some grub? Bugs? Bees? Feed? I know meat pellets do the trick but I don't know if they sell any here."

"Well, I always want to get around to reorganizing things but I keep moving around that I don't have the time for it," she smirked and sat back down, "Maybe one day I'll be able to make all of these deliveries and finally get a clear idea of what's supposed to be mine and other people's."

"But I'm sure people would like their things eventually," she took a cause to take a glance in her cargo hold. "That would be one way to tidy up. So as a thief then, do you just assume everything is yours? Do you at least remember where it's taken from?"

"Do not even get me started on the Sith, they might be all about 'breaking the chains' but then they stick a rod up their ass and enslave everyone else. Their customs folks are pretty diligent too, that's the real crime."

"I totally made that up," she laughed, "I'm sure a Jedi might make better use of that word in philosophy. I'm sure they are very dominant and stern types. There are tales that they'll pound your ship and send you to the slave planets if they so much as look at them wrong at surprise inspections. Anyway, will be a good change to see what these Hapen types are like once we get there."

Leaning over and rest his elbows on the counter, fairly animated.
"I gotta admit, never pulled a job against the Hapans. Always thought they were a bit too good to be true, yah know? All good looking, all rich but also all apparently badass? They got great PR for a nation of pirates. Not to mention their grudge against the jedi for setting them free, weird lot. Still, I suppose a tropical resort full of beautiful rich aliens could be worse..."
